Michael and Carole Wheeler

1925 ESSEX TOURER - "Essie"

Essie is owned by Carole and Michael Wheeler. Both are active members of the club and have and still do, hold Committee positions.

"Essie" was built in Detroit USA and is a member of the Hudson Motor Company family. When we found her in early 1969, she was in a fallen down farm shed in South Australia. The shed had fortunately fallen in such a way, that it was still covering the motor, but had broken the hood bows. She was restored and first hit the roads again in late 1970.
"Essie" still runs on her original motor and her original vacuum tank. In 2003 she was part of a  tour which saw her take a run down the Hume Highway to Melbourne and then across Bass Strait on the Spirit of Tasmania to go on to tour all around Tasmania and then return home trouble free. She has been on many more runs since, including the Hudson Club Rallies in Echuca & Toowoomba as well as many NRMA Motorfests & Shannon Eastern Creek Classics.

"Essie" has:
6 cylinders with 17.32 horse power
Weighs 2185 lbs with a
Wheelbase 110.5 inches and a
Petrol Tank which holds 11.5 gallons
and runs on a 6 volt system.

Essie resides in Camden with the Wheelers along with a sister, a 1925 Essex Tudor (coach) and younger ladies, a 1938 Oldsmobile & a 1964 Rambler Classic 660 V8.
