Presidents Run 2018 Sunday 18th February 2018, Organised by George Ross
This year it was decided to have just a day run, due to the fact that we are having our national rally to Wagga Wagga in September, and coupled with this 5 or 6 couples will travel to Wagga Wagga for an overnight stay at their own expense, in the next month or so to tie up any loose ends and visit some of the venues for last minute communication with the venue owners.
The Gosford Classic Car Museum was the chosen point for our meeting place, after spending a couple of hours looking and drooling over the approx 400 cars on show, all of which are for sale, some with a very hefty price tag, i.e. a V12 Packard $185.000.not for the faint hearted.
It was time to start our engines and proceed up the F1 to Jillaby, the home of Sally & Rohan Borrell, some members took the long route as Mr Google did not have some of the off ramps named correctly but, all arrived in time for a barbie, Rohan as chief cook, Sally had prepared salads etc, so a nice feast it was. We were then offered fruit ,cakes, slices and drinks.
It was great to see some new members attend, and great to see some old members we have not seen for some time, we all had a look at Rohan’s sheds which is home to quite a few Ramblers. Rohan’s sheds are out of this world, with about 4 or 5 hoists. These hoists have really come down in price of late, if only they were around at this price 20 or 30 years ago.
Soon it was time to head for home, we drove modern as I was told the traffic once you get off the F1 at Wahroonga is bumper to bumper, it took us about 35 minutes to drive about 10Km, as it was very hot, the air con in the car was a welcome addition to our trip. Very special thanks to Sally & Rohan for being the hosts for us on the day. We all enjoyed the trip up north, looking forward to catching up with old and new faces in September in Wagga Wagga at our National rally. If you have never been to one before, you are in for a great week of fun with like minded people.
